Almost Ready To Deploy My Network!

Wow, things are going really great with this wireless network!  I have learned a ton about everything in general, and am almost ready to start placing routers out there.  I have 2 Asus WL-520gU routers and 2 Buffalo WHR-HP G54 routers to start out with.  I also bought an enclosure that I’m going to try out on my own house to see if it will work.  If it does work, then I’ll be able to obtain these for about $4 each, instead of however much the real enclosures cost.  I can always replace them later, once I have an income from it.

Anyway, I just need to purchase some cable to extend the power pack, then I’m ready to go.  It’s so exciting, seeing my business at this level.  It is basically at the infant stage, about ready to get up and start walking.  Once I get my first router up, I’m hoping that I’ll catch a few people in the area who notice it and start connecting.  I will then drive around with a router in my car (hooked up to a power inverter) and see how far my signal will reach before needing to be repeated.  I will then make up some marketing and start delivering by hand to the houses and businesses in that radius.  This won’t be easy, but is the most cost effective way to do it when you don’t have a lot of money to start with.  From that point, I estimate that I should get at least enough people interested to be able to install my other 3 routers within the first month, providing enough money to buy 4 - 6 more.

I also need to purchase a few usb wireless adapters.  I feel that people with desktop computers might be interested in being able to set their computer up wherever they want, without having network cables across the room and everything.

There is just so much potential here, it’s amazing.  Check out the link on the left that says “Debian Enchilada” for more details about the open source software that I’m using for this whole setup.

New Direction For This Site

It’s finally been determined where this site is going!  After about 2 months of no posts, I’ve decided to take the site in a whole new direction.  Actually, I’ve decided to take my business in a whole new direction.

No longer will I spend my time making sites to sell, working on seo, and programming for peanuts.  I’m getting into a whole new business altogether.

What is this new business, you may ask?  I am selling Wifi Hotspot solutions.  If you want a hotspot for your local business, I can help you out.  Not only that, but I am working on building a Hotspot for my entire city.  It’s going to cover the whole city, and will allow you to connect to the network no matter where you are at.  I see a lot of potential in this, and am the FIRST to jump on it in my area, so I know that I’m going to succeed.  Once I get my city done (and my partner is working on his own city), I’m going to jump out, go to surrounding cities and get them hooked up too.  With cable internet being around $50 per month and DSL about the same, and Satellite being over that amount, I have a huge potential for profit.  With the right network setup, I’ll be able to reach some of the places on the outskirts that can’t get cable internet or DSL.  There’s just so much potential in this that it’s not even funny.  I see myself earning well over $10,000 per month in the next year, and much more after that.

Since the potential is so great, there are opportunities to do this wherever you may live.  I’m willing to help anyone who happens onto this site get started for the minimal cost possible.  The first thing you should do is make your way over to http://oregonmicroscience.com and read up as much as you can.  It’s easily going to take you a day or two to get through the entire forum, but it’s well worth it.  If you have any questions, then feel free to ask and I will answer them to the best of my abilities.  I’m going to try and document my successes on this blog, as well as give you tips to help you avoid the mistakes that I make along the way.  I can’t promise daily updates, but I hope to provide plenty of valuable content for you throughout the time that it takes to get going.

I will also post new firmwares that I run across that will help you out.  I know that there is a lot of money to be made in this, and you can easily start your business for less than $1000.  What other business gives you that kind of possibility?

Thanks for reading, and I hope that this site helps you to become profitable too.

Wow, No Posts For A Month!

Well, I’ve been quite busy with my other sites and haven’t had much SEO stuff to post anyway.  Here’s some pretty good news, though.  My automated ebay sites are starting to pull in some really good search engine traffic.  In fact, I think one of them had almost 40 unique visitors from Google alone.  This is really promising, as it shows that the sites are definitely working as they should.  I’ve also earned a little surprising Adsense money from the site too, and can’t wait for any ebay earnings to show up from the traffic.  I’ve also determined that probably any new site I develop will be using Wordpress as a backend system.  I have learned how to write plugins to do stuff that I want, so it’s not too hard to modify things to work as I want them to.  My sites with wordpress, however, tend to get indexed quicker and also get indexed better than sites without it.  That’s just my personal feeling, and that’s what I’m going with.

Is Wordpress Good For SEO?

I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about wordpress being really good for SEO, so I decided to see if I could use that to benefit my text messaging site.  The site that I’m working on, once again, is ITxTU.info.  This should be the last time that I’m redoing that site, though.  It’s done fairly well so far, earning me a little over $10 this month, even though it only averages 15 - 20 hits per day.  I’m hoping that by moving it over to the wordpress platform I will be able to get better search engine results.  I really think this site is going to be the main earner in my portfolio for the next several months until the ebay sites take off.

Are “NoFollow” links pointless?

This question has been asked many times, and I am now finding myself wondering the same thing.  In an effort to do some linkbuilding for my new sites, I decided to look toward blog commenting as a way to accomplish that.  I do the good old search in google for my keywords, followed by “powered by wordpress”, and come up with a nice list of sites to check out.  Well, I go to a few sites, post a nice comment (related to the site), and submit it.  Then, I check just to see if the link is a “NoFollow” link.  Probably 90% of them are.  Does this make the work wasted?

Some people will say yes, and some will say no.  I personally feel that the “NoFollow” links aren’t a waste of time, as you can still benefit from a few things with them.  The first is the traffic that could be generated from the link.  If you post to a blog that has regular traffic, and somebody sees your comment, then you have a small chance of them visiting your page.  The other main benefit that most people aren’t aware of is that Yahoo doesn’t follow the “NoFollow” rules.  Remember, Google isn’t the only search engine out there.  Yes, you should optimize your page to rank high in Google, but many people still use Yahoo, MSN, AOL, and many other search engines.  These search engines will still count the links to your site, and this means that even those “NoFollow” links will help you.

Here’s the proof, for those who don’t trust everything they read.

This search in Google is to find inbound links for my site ITxTU.info shows the following results.   Results 1 - 6 of 6 linking to itxtu.infoSee for yourself at this link.

The same search in Yahoo showed these results.  Inlinks 1 - 100 of about 260.  The proof is here.

Now, check out both of those links and you’ll see something major.  At Yahoo, a ton of those inbound links come from StumbleUpon, which uses “NoFollow” links for every link off of their pages.  You won’t see any of those links on the Google search.  So, after this discovery, do “NoFollow” links help your site?  Yes, they do.  Not as far as Google’s concerned, but as I said before.  Google’s not the only company that you should be building your sites for.

SEO Break

I took a small break from SEO stuff in order to build some more sites.  Now, I have more sites under my control and need to work on getting traffic to them.  Here is where my SEO training will come in handy.  I recently met the guy who owns New Orleans Internet Marketing and learned some very useful information.  I’m going to use a mixture of Link Exchanging, Article Marketing, and learn more about Press Releases in order to get my sites the traffic that I need to make then real money-makers.  Within the next month or two, I expect to see them really take off and provide a decent income.  I have also been building up a proxy network, in an effort to get a few hundred dollars per month from adsense.  I’m not exactly sure how to properly promote these sites, but I’m working on that as well.  I think my time would be best served now by working on my existing sites and not building anything else for a while.  Hopefully this is the wise choice here.

How are things?

It’s been a while since an update, but I haven’t really done much SEO stuff, or anything similar recently.  My Adsense earnings have been consistently doing pretty well, though, averaging $8 this month.  I think last month was over $11, but I was still doing some stuff with my sites.  I didn’t do anything this month, except for buying one new domain name and forwarding it to ITxTU.info.  I came across a video explaining a way to buy domain names that will more easily catch search traffic.  I tried it out, but don’t have any tracking in place to tell if it actually worked.  I need to do some backlinking, and other stuff with it, then I might see more results.

The most notable thing that I’ve done recently is find a video explaining how to use Wordpress and RSS feeds to automate your blog.  I took this concept and went way beyond, creating my own automated ebay script, using only Wordpress, a free RSS plugin, some custom code, and cron jobs.  I am still working on refining my efforts, then I will make a video of the process and sell it, along with the custom code and cron resources.  I have one site that I created for myself (http://1dollardvd.net), and one that I created to sell (http://awii4me.com).  I’m a little surprised that my bid is only at $20 for AWii4Me.com, but I’m sure once I get things going better, I will get a better return on my time and money.  The most difficult part is coming up with ideas to create the sites about.  I just bought the domain name http://GucciGallery.com, and will feed Gucci purses and accessories from ebay to the site.  This should be a great niche, and I may branch it off into other areas too.  The hardest part is coming up with the money to buy new domain names.  Feel free to check my other blog, http://cgmtechnologies.com, to see how I tackle that issue.

ITxTU.info SEO Attempt - Explained

I was asked to explain a little about what I did for my SEO attempt with my text messaging site. I’ll explain step by step.

The first thing I did was to go to Google Adwords and check in the Keyword Tool to get a list of keywords for the site. I entered “Free text message” and sorted the results by their amount of searches. I then made a list out of these keywords to work from. Once I had the list, I went through and made several copies of my home page but named each page with the keywords in the list. I only went through about 20 of them, though, before I got tired of it. When I named the pages, I used a dash in place of the spaces. I think it has helped some, since my Google Analytics shows much more search engine traffic each day. I would guess my next step would be to make the same copies, but remove the dashes. I also tried to increase the keyword relevancy and reduce duplicate content by adding the keywords into the pages, in the title, and changing a few things throughout the page.

That’s it in a nutshell. Feel free to try it out and share your results.

SEO Case Study - ITxTU.info

I said that I would post an update on my case study for my seo attempts with ITxTU.info. It’s still early, but every single page that I created has now been indexed by google. I checked one of them by entering the keywords into Google and doing a search, but my site wasn’t on the first few pages. Adding quotes around the keywords helped tremendously, though, bringing my site to #1. Therefore, I’m convinced that my idea worked, and it will just take some time, and backlinks, to start getting more and more organic traffic to the site.

I claim this as a success.

Page Rank Update

I’m not really sure how it happened, but I was pleasantly surprised when I went to my site ITxTU.info and looked up at the Page Rank on my Google Toolbar. It is now a Page Rank 3 in Google. Only the landing page is ranked, the main page to send the text messages isn’t ranked at all, probably because it requires you to be logged in before you can view it. I bought this domain here at a PR3, but I bought ITxTU.info just over a month ago and for it to get PR3 in that time is pretty good, in my book. Now I need to figure out how I can make a little more money from it, after this good news. I’m not sure if I want to do text-link-ads on it, simply because I’ve heard so much about how Google is punishing those sites that use it by lowering their Page Rank. Once I figure something out, though, I’ll let you know.

Also, I’m up to 14 pages of ITxTU.info being indexed in Google. The majority of these are variations of the index page, but using long tail keywords as the file name. This should help me get some more search engine exposure, but I have yet to see if it actually does. I’ll keep you posted.
